I do share your sentiments. But if one really cannot forget, you must take proactive steps. Do something else to fill the void. Tears may fall, but do take that great vacation, play a game, read a good book, go for a swim, ride a bicycle, take up a new hobby, go fishing, pray, read the AlQuran...etc.
Just don't lose your mind.
